Revision notes

Written against each board’s own specification, topic by topic, with diagrams, exam technique, common mistakes and FAQs.

100+

Interactive 3D models

Orbitals, bonds, shapes, lattices and mechanisms that pupils can rotate and step through. Put one on the board and turn it as you explain.

47

Practicals in 3D

A 3D bench for every practical page, on all five boards: the apparatus, the method step by step, results, errors and the exam points.

1,200+

Check questions

Short questions built into the notes, marked instantly, so pupils find out whether an idea has landed while they are still reading.

Three ways to use it this week

Every resource has its own address, so anything below can go on the board, into a slide or into a homework message.

1Starter

Turn a model on the board

Open a note with a 3D model and rotate it while the class watches: sigma and pi bonds, a tetrahedral carbon, an ionic lattice. Ask what they notice before you explain it.

2During the lesson

Let the check questions do the checking

Pupils read a note on their own device and answer the questions built into it as they go. Each answer is marked straight away, so pupils know at once whether they have understood, and can ask before moving on.

3Homework

Set a practical as homework

Copy a practical page’s link into your homework message. Pupils run the 3D bench, follow the method, then work through the results, errors and exam questions before the real practical.

Reading in school

No sign-up screens in your classroom

Pupils can read the notes without an account. At home, after a number of notes, a pupil is asked to create a free account, which also keeps their progress. In school we would rather that never happened mid-lesson.

Register your school’s network once, and every pupil reading on it is never asked to sign up, until the end of the school year.

  1. Use a computer that is on the school’s network, not a phone on mobile data.
  2. Press the button below. It takes a second and asks for nothing.
  3. That is it. Pupils on the same network read freely until 31 August.

We store a one-way scrambled form of the network address, never the address or a name, and it expires each August. Schools on JANET, London Grid for Learning and SWGfL networks are recognised automatically.

Coming next

Teaching resources, free as well

Once the revision notes are complete, we are building lesson resources for every topic, written by the same author and matched to the notes your pupils already use.

In development

PowerPoints

Lesson slides for each topic, built from the same explanations and diagrams as the notes, so what you teach and what pupils revise match.

In development

Worksheets

Printable worksheets for each topic, matched to the notes, for classwork or homework.

Questions schools ask us

Is it really free?

Yes. The revision notes, 3D models, practical pages and check questions are free to use in class and at home, with no time limit. The PowerPoints and worksheets will be free too.

Do pupils need an account?

Not to read. On a school network you have registered, or one we recognise automatically (JANET, London Grid for Learning, SWGfL), pupils are never asked to sign up. At home, after a number of notes a pupil is asked to create a free account, which also keeps their progress, trophies and topic map.

Are there adverts?

No. No adverts are shown anywhere on the site.

Is anything sold to pupils?

Separate, paid topic courses exist, with video lessons and marked exam practice, and some notes mention them. Nothing in the free resources depends on them, and no note is locked behind them.

Who writes the resources?

Dr. Mohammed Al-Fatah: a chemistry teacher with a PGCE and QTS, a First Class chemistry degree and a Distinction MSc from UCL, and a decade of A Level teaching. Every note is written against the board's own specification.

Which exam boards are covered?

Edexcel International A Level, Edexcel A Level (9CH0), AQA (7405), OCR A (H432) and Cambridge International (9701), each written separately for its own specification.

Can I show the 3D models in class?

Yes. They run in the browser on a classroom PC or smartboard with nothing to install. Drag to rotate; most also have buttons to step through the stages.

What data is collected about pupils?

Pupils can read without an account. The cookie banner lets each visitor choose which cookies to allow, and the privacy policy explains what is collected and why.

When will the PowerPoints and worksheets arrive?

We are finishing the revision notes first, then building the teaching resources topic by topic. Tell us which topics you want first and we will start there.
